Some like to escape the winter chill and fly to island destinations for the holidays. Others travel by exploring these islands in their wine glass. This December, the Wine Pairing Weekend writers travel to Greece for some holiday island (and mainland) hopping. Will you join us?
It will be choose your own adventure as we travel through the islands of Greece. The Greeks made wine as early as 6,500 years ago, and the practice flourished under the Roman Empire.

To begin this Greek wine exploration, we will start by asking ourselves three key questions:
- Have you tried Greek wine?
2. Can you find a bottle of Greek wine for purchase?
3. Can you pronounce the varietal of Greek wine you are tasting?
If you answered yes to #2, move on to your food pairing.
The Wine Pairing Weekend writers place an emphasis on not only the enjoyment of wine but the enjoyment of wine with food.
Once you have sourced your Greek wine, we will be asking ourselves these three key questions:
- What will you pair with your Greek wine? Traditional Greek fare or cuisine from elsewhere?
2. How did your food and wine pairing turn out?
3. What other foods would you try with your Greek wine?
After you have completed your Greek food and wine pairing, we will be reflecting on these three questions:
- What is your opinion of Greek Wine after your tasting?
2. Will you buy Greek wine again?
3. What surprised you about these wines?
We will explore all this in more in our riveting Twitter Chat on December 12 at 8am PST.

Great invite. Love the questions! Great way to frame the exploration into the topic. We're excited to pair our wine with a whole fish I bought at the Ventura Harbor as well as Greek soup we're getting from a local restaurant and some other Greek specialties! Thanks for hosting!
