My interest in the subject stems from time I spent cooking in fine dining restaurants. I didn't know much about wine back then (nor could I afford it), but my fascination with getting just the right food/wine pairing started and continues.
I also just like making food and wine pairing fun. Wine can seem serious at times, but it can enjoyed by everyone, no matter your budget or knowledge.
